It took a little longer that originally planned, but Lone Wolves 3.0 has has finally landed! A new backend (home-grown this time), a new design and lots of new content. The biggest changes are the main site and the projects section. Out goes the generic Nuke portal and in comes a blog-like front. I say blog-like because it's primary use is not exactly a blog. It has the same technology, but it will be used to post non-personal articles aside from blog posts as well.
The projects section has changed as well. Eric and I have managed to get a pretty decent open source infrastructure going, thanks to a couple of old HP NetServers that were donated to us (thanks Michiel!). We've got a Subversion repository, a bugtracker, mailing lists, and to top it off a brand new open source game project to use it for.
Alongside the release of Lone Wolves 3.0 comes Hearts for GNOME, an implementation of the popular card game for the GNOME desktop. Truth be told, it's one of the reasons the release of Lone Wolves 3.0 took so long. The inspiration for the game came from my parents (how original ;-) when I built them a new computer. Instead of shelling out for Windows XP, I convinced them to finally try Linux (Ubuntu 5.10 to be exact). They loved it immediately (who says Linux is not ready for the desktop?) but had one comment: “I can't play hearts anymore!” So, after searching in vain for a decent implementation of hearts I decided to create one myself. The Hearts for GNOME project is the result. There are no official releases yet, but it's playable so I figured the time was ripe for a project announcement.
Since the entire website is new, there might be some glitches here and there. Some functionality isn't implemented yet (e.g. pingbacks, trackbacks, editing comments, RSS feeds) but they will be in the future. Please report any bugs you come across. Have fun!
